1. Don't post any personal information online such as your phone number or address, don't fill out the profile on sites like Facebook stating where you went to school and it is easy to track you down if they know which school you go to.

2. When social media only accept friend requests from people you know and don't allow people who are not your friends to look at your posts.

3. Use strong passwords, a strong password has at least 12 characters, has at least one number and one symbol. Also, make sure that the password you use is not a word and that it doesn't relate to the website you are signing up for.

4. You could also use a private browser as it stops people from looking at your search history making it harder to figure out your passwords and personal information.

5. You could also use two-factor authentication, this means when you log in the company sends you a code by email or by text that you have to type in to log in to your account.

6. You can also just lie when you are doing security questions so it is a lot harder to hack on to your account.

7. If you want to be really safe pay only by cash and never use your bank cards, however, they mean things like Netflix subscriptions are harder to get as you would have to get gift cards.

8. Make sure to install anti-virus on your computer in order to keep it virus free, this will make sure your passwords are not key logged and your computer slowed down or data could be stolen.

9. If someone asks for your personal information such as passwords and social security numbers don't give it to them. And if your bank calls you it is not your bank hang up on them, the bank would never call you about your account.

10. When you are using the internet make sure the network you are using is secure and protected by a password.
