The societal impacts of social media include a great many things, from the massive decrease in attention spans that children and teenagers are having to the massive urge we feel to check our phones whenever we are nearby them (which thanks to social media is basically always). Let's start off with some stats:
The average person checks their phone 13 times a day
65% of all individuals feel uncomfortable and uneasy when they are unable to gain access to their social media accounts
Some of the effects of social media are that children and young people are spending more and more time online leading towards them developing less and less of the important face to face social skills we use in our daily lives, it has also begun to lead us towards a massive unemployment increase due to the fact that kids are used to getting what they want when they want it and are not being taught that they can't have everything when they want it and that sometimes you have to work to get things. Overall Social Media will likely be one of the many factors in the downfall of humanity because of the lack of skills and massive unemployment counts it has caused already and will cause in the future
